How to Tie a Tie (Four in Hand)

Step By Step
Wrap the tie under your collar, around your neck and over your shoulders with the wide end on your right. That's your actual right and not the "you" in the mirror right. Pull the wide end down so it hangs about a foot below the narrow end. Don't worry--it won't hang that low when you're done.
Cross the wide end over the front of narrow end, making an "X". You might say "X marks the spot" but it's not mandatory--it doesn't necessarily help you tie the tie any better.
Wrap the wide end of the tie around, behind, and over the front of the narrow end again. It should be wrapped around twice now. And you should still be able to breathe. (Breathing is key.)
Next, pull the wide end behind, up, and through the top half of the "X", just in front of your neck. The wide end should now be hanging over a loop.
Tuck the wide end through that loop. You should now see the tie beginning to take shape. If not, you may have made a mistake on an earlier step or are not standing in front of a mirror.
Pull the wide end through the loop, then tighten the tie by holding the wide end and pulling the narrow end down. This will tighten the loop around your neck. Adjust for comfort and proper hang as needed. And as a precaution we'd just like to remind you again of the importance of breathing: you should still be able to breathe.
Fold your collar back down, and you're all tied up. And hopefully still breathing. But you already knew this...

When undressing, don't actually untie the tie; just loosen it enough to slip over your head. The next time you need it, you can slip it back on, and tighten it up.
